Kathmandu Tour Overview

Rolwaling Valley trek is one of the most strenuous trekking trails in Nepal. Hidden between the vertical ice glaciers the valley of Rolwaling is a challenging abode for trekking. It lies to the Northeast of Kathmandu valley, close to the Tibetan border.

It is separated by the pristine rivers of Tama Koshi River and Khumbu Himal. This extraordinary trekking journey passes through to the ethnic Sherpa and Brahmin villages.

The Rolwaling trek is set on high passes, dense forests and beautiful waterfalls. The major highlights of this trip include fantastic views of Mt. Gauri Shanker (7146m) and Tso Rolpa Glacier Lake. It is believed that the abominable snowman Yeti once roamed around this valley.

Kathmandu Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Upon arrival our Mission Nepal Holidays airport representative will meet you outside at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to your designated hotel safely. Overnight stay in the hotel
Day 2
After early mornings breakfast, we set out straight for sightseeing tours to world heritage sites. We pay a visit to the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath Temple, the Boudhanath Stupa and Swayambhunath. Next we visit the Patan Durbar Square, the Krishna temple, the Kumbheswore temple, the Golden temple and many more. We wind up for the day by visiting the Kathmandu Durbar Square and walk back towards our hotel.
Day 3
Today we leave Kathmandu behind for Sigatte. We pass through the scenic alpine green hills and White Mountain backdrop views. Following the trail we pass through the village of Dolkha on the dusty rugged roads until we reach Sigatte. It is ideally situated on the banks of Tama Kosi River. We made a camp here for the night’s stay.
Day 4
From sigatte we take the route that follows Bhote Kosi’s deep valley gorge. We traverse across the busy river on picturesque suspension bridges and pass a few hamlets and villages. The dense forest is a great vantage point that produces astonishing glimpses of Mount Gaurishankar. This region is largely inhibited by the Hindus. However fluttering prayer flags and Chortens are ominous signs of Buddhism that coexists here in harmony.
Day 5
An enduring 2.5 hrs walk, keeping to the east takes us pass the impressive terraced slopes across the valley. After making a crossover we reach the village of Simi Gaon. It is a picturesque village that belongs to the Sherpa highlanders and ethnic Tamang communities. It is well marked by Tibetan monastery perched above the houses on top of the hill facing the impressive Gaurishankar. We take a nights rest here
Day 6
The morning is remarkable today as we enter the Rolwaling valley. First up we are greeted with gorgeous rhododendron and bamboo forest. From here the path steadily climbs towards Gyalche. Then we make an ideal descend down to the river and camp here at Donga for the next day.
Day 7
A gradual climb from the forested valley of tropical alpine vegetation, and excellent mountain views reaches us to Beding. From her spectacular views of Melungtse I, Rolwaling’s highest summit becomes clear and visible. Beding is a peculiar small village of the Sherpa communities. We get a chance to observe the ancient Buddhist Monastery is rewarding located. We will camp on the banks of the river for a night’s stay.
Day 8
It’s an acclimatization day meant for resting and a leisurely hike. We hike to the Malung La pass for the views. From the top we get sensational views of snow covered peaks, glaciers and the natural forest. Besides that the Beding Valley looks extremely serene and wonderful below.
Day 9
We prepare to leave Beding and head towards our next destination of Na. A short walk from here takes us past the last tiny alpine hamlet that is only inhabited during summer months. The village of Na is situated just below the Tsho Rolpa Glacier Lake in a beautiful valley. It is a wonderful place adorned by impressive peaks, of Chobutse, Chugimago and Yalung Ri. A great place to camp and stay back for overnight.
Day 10
We can either take a rest or hike towards the Yalung La pass. From here excellent views of the Tsho-Rolpa glacier lake is outstanding. Besides that the views of Yalung Glacier, the Ramdung Peak,Yalung Ri and the Himalayan summits is splendid.
Day 11
We make a steep climb up the dam towards the Tsho-Rolpa Lake and keep moving towards the south direction. Taking the ancient route we pass through the moraines making a descend we reach Nyiduk Kongma. It lies between Tso Rolpa and the Trakarding glacier.
Day 12
Following the route of the Trakarding glacier, we pass through the rocky trails giving way to the bluish ice. It’s a slippery trail as we try to be at the Dolumbau glacier. The path ahead becomes quite a challenge as we have to set a rope to reach our campsite area. Though treacherous it’s a panoramic place for excellent views. We get to see countless streams running off the glacier, falling rocks and collapsing ice which is unique and memorable.
Day 13
A steep, tricky foothold onto the Drolumbau glacier is what we attempt to cross. While we make a cross view of Tengi Ragi Tau, Bigphero-Go Shar and Dragkar-Go make it overwhelming. (6793m).We then slowly progress through moraines and gentle slopes, crossing the glacial areas, for the summit.
Day 14
Today we are in for an easy and pleasant walk. We take the route that leads us to the tiny Sherpa village of Thame. Thame forms a conflux for Tibetan traders and their yak caravans. It is an important trade route that bisects the Tibetan border of Nangpa La and Namche Bazaar
Day 15
Trekking from Thame to Khumjung is a decent walk that takes us to the foot of sacred Mt. Kumbila. Khumjung is home of the first Edmund Hilary school project. It is an excellent place with traditional Sherpa settlements and ancient monasteries.
Day 16
Today we leave Khumjun behind for Monjo. Taking a long downhill descent via Namche Bazaar admiring the views of Mt. Everest we reach Monjo.
Day 17
We follow the trail that leads us towards the Dudh Kosi River. Passing through several Sherpa villages we finally reach Lukla.
Day 18
We bid goodbye to the mountains for one last time, and reach the airport for a connecting flight to Kathmandu. Once in our hotel you will be relaxing and preparing for tomorrow.
Day 19
This is the final day of your Rolwaling Valley trek. The airport representative will transfer to the international airport safely. Carrying memories of this incredible trekking journey you will fly back home.
